The bulk carrier M.V. Forum Samoa4 is scheduled to arrive in Fiji in March 2019. The vessel requires cleaning on the hull and other sites of fouling underwater. The Ministry of Environment requires pre-approval for this
cleaning to mitigate against the introduction of invasive species into Fiji’s marine environment.
An Underwater Hull Inspection and Propeller Polish was carried out in 16 January 2019 by Commercial Diving Services at Port Botany, Sydney, and a written and photographic report was provided. The vessel is coming
directly from Australia to Fiji.
These written and photographic reports have been examined to determine the state of marine growth on the hull, and to ensure that the proposed cleaning will not result in the introduction of harmful invasive species into
Fiji’s marine environment.
